We made it!

Well, I have to say the camp out was better than I had anticipated... It was a beautiful area to camp, we were right on Toledo Bend Lake, a beautiful view, it was called Indian Mounds. It cost us $4 to camp and for four dollars there are pros and cons.

Pros: beautiful scenery, lots of room at each camp site- we weren't close to our neighboring campers.

Cons: For $4 you get a Mens and Womens port-a-potty. Yes, a Portable John. Luckily I thought ahead, knowing we would be forced to use a public bathroom, I packed Clorox Cleanup Wipes and a roll of Charmin. Another con, for only $4, anyone can afford to camp there.

So the caliber of people is lacking, at least that night. We were serenaded until 4 a.m. (Yes, 4 in the morning, which means all night) by two competing groups of middle-aged drunks listening to fairly old music. I can't say Oldies but Goodies either. I recognized only one of the songs, "Johnny Be Good" I think. Though my memory isn't great at that hour of day/night. The main culprits were just one camp over from us and the competing party was across the lake a little, still hearing distance and we could see them stoking their fire and leaving for a beer run. Mostly it was loud music and a lot of yelling, "Whoo-hoo!" and "Kid Rock!", there was some singing along mixed in there, flat, off-key and a little delayed. Our kids slept through it somehow, which we were grateful for.

Camping during the first trimester should never be done. I may never camp again! I woke up and had enough energy to eat breakfast. Johnny and Mark and Stephanie and the kids went down to the lake to fish and play and ride in our boat and I took Ella into our tent. She played and I tried to sleep. Eventually we both got naps and the next thing I knew was that half the day was gone and it was lunchtime. But I slept through the yucky feelings I usually get in the mornings.

We got home around 4 p.m. and unloaded everything and even washed our van before cleaning up. We had to feed the missionaries that night at 7, which went well. We had DiGiorno's pizza- stuffed crust!

It was a fun trip, unfortunately we forgot to pack our camera- I guess we'll have to do it again for our posterity's sake!! Anyway, we've regrouped and plan on finishing the kids room this week, before conference. Cross your fingers!!
