As if the time doesn't say it all... I should be doing dishes. I should be finishing up an amazing workout. But here I sit, Monday night 10:16 p.m. CST, mostly because I'm a one-upper ;)
My darling sister,
Sarah, has started Motivate Me Monday on her family blog. We have SO much in common these days.
We both recently moved (into amazingly beautiful houses by-the-way) and we both recently (9 mos ago is recent) had babies! Which means we have both fallen into the pit of despair. (any Princess Bride fans out there?)
A few years back, Sarah introduced me to
Turbo Jam and I fell in love. Unlike her, I adore working out with weights. For me, the euphoric high I get from working out seems to last longer when I've used weights rather than doing just cardio.
I love the feeling of sore muscles for days after. To me, that means what I'm doing is working! Johnny bought me a
road bike and a trainer and I've used it, but I haven't gotten the sore muscles from it like I do when I use a video or iPhone app. (I know I could if I'd up the resistance, but I'm too chicken.)
Like I haven't put enough plugs in for Chalene Johnson ~ but I have to say, I truly LOVE her. She's fun to listen to and easy to follow and, yes, she still reminds me of my sister
Melissa! She just gets the job done. I know from experience that if I do her workouts, I'll get the results.
Last week, I was doing great! Worked out most days, ate well, felt great! That is, until Saturday. You see, Saturday was our 12th anniversary!
(Thank you!)
I made the kids brownies- with mint chocolate marshmallows and semi-sweet chocolate chips on top. What was I thinking?! I'm not that strong. Before I knew it, I had eaten at least half of my calorie allotment for the entire day. At least.
*sigh*
Then, that night, we ate at Red Lobster. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered enough food to feed the entire population of Rhode Island. Not kidding. And it wasn't even that impressive. There was lobster on my plate. Honestly, based on that- lobster is totally overrated! And not worth the money.
(I've since spoken with someone who assured me it was not cooked correctly. We'll see. Maybe.)
So of course, we got To-Go boxes and ate the rest on Sunday.
(Did you know you could fry broccoli?! Tasty but SO bad for you.)
Happy Father's Day to us.
My point is, is that once I've "messed up", it's hard to recommit and get back on track. (I don't mean to offend anyone, I don't have a lot of room to complain- my healthy eating/exercise has a lot to do with my mental health and not just losing baby weight- that's for another post.) I'm sure many of you can relate, right?
SO... At the risk of being completely cliché, it IS Monday, and I am newly committed!
(Thanks Sarah for the motivating post on your blog today!)
Here's one of my favorite episodes of The Office. I often quote it...
