Best Friends

Ella has a best friend. She talks about her all the time. Her name is Callie Caseytilla Cuballywho (pronounced "Cub"-"ball"-"e"-"who"). Callie Cuballywho is 6 years old and has yellow hair. She lives in Nacogdoches with her family. Her dad, Bull Shule is a police officer. Her mom's name is Kendy Chadilli. She has an older brother, Pupa Shule. She also has a baby sister, Chunkydeedee Chili (but she's not fat). They have a dog, Chuly Chuleeta. She has yellow and black and white, long hair. She looks like this:

Callie Cuballywho's (yes, you must say her first and last name every time) favorite color is green. She wears it a lot. Shortly after we learned of Callie Cuballywho's existence (who Ella says is also her cousin), Ella came into the kitchen as I was cooking supper and asked if Callie Cuballywho was here yet. I assumed that this Callie Cuballywho was just as good of a friend as Bullseye was to Travis. I responded, "Yes, she's waiting for you in the living room. She's sitting on the couch." Ella carefully and slowly walked into the living room. Once she got there and didn't see anyone, she came back and said, "She's not on the couch." Oops. This was going to be more difficult to play along with than I thought. I decided to have "Callie Cuballywho" (aka my sister Rachel) give Ella a call the next day. Ella was pretty excited and never knew it was actually Rachel. She invited Callie Cuballywho to Johnny's graduation party (and never noticed that she didn't come- lol).

She's perfectly happy updating us on what Callie's doing from time to time. Last week, as I was cooking supper, Ella was getting her shoes on. It was getting dark and Johnny wasn't home yet. When I asked Ella where she was going, she said, "To the soccer ball game! Callie Cuballywho has a soccer ball game right now!" Unfortunately, we weren't able to attend. A couple of days ago, Ella was supposed to be cleaning her room. I was folding laundry and she came to tell me that Callie Cuballywho was at the grocery store. She said Callie was buying 2 toys there, as she held up 5 fingers. ;)

Thanksgiving Eve

We spent the night before Thanksgiving at our friends' house near Shelbyville. Ronnie and Gloria Watts are in our branch and we've become HUGE fans of theirs! We just love them! They invited our family over to roast hot dogs and make smores and have a hayride. It was so much fun and they have 25 beautiful acres! We took the opportunity to take a few family pictures too.

Happy Holidays!

Everybody needs a friend...

The kids all had a friend over to play today:)

Katherine had Selena Packard. Travis had Austin Packard. Olivia and Ella had the Packard's friends, Cameron and Nicole. They had so much fun watching Madagascar, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo, or, at least, watching parts of each. They also played in the sprinklers, which worked out great for us because our yard needed to be watered :) We haven't had rain in over a month I think.

We're so glad they came over to play.

More good laughs!

Just because my kids are so funny (and because I'm going to blog book this later), I wanted to share an oldy, but a goody, story about them...

This is from an email I sent my family/friends April 25, 2005. Enjoy!

Our son, Travis is almost 3. He has a new horse, it is brownish and it's name is Bullseye. It's make believe of course. Anyway, he holds onto the reins with his fists clinched tightly and gallops around the house on a regular basis. Sometimes he tells us to be quiet because his horse is asleep or he opens the front door to let Bullseye out to go eat. He's informed us that he now has 4 horses. Whenever we find him playing with other toys we ask, "Where's your horse?" He'll say, "Oh, he's tied up in his trailer." We like to encourage his imagination. So, this past Thursday, we had gone out with Johnny to one of his AFLAC appointments. Travis brought two horses with him, and left the other two at home. After the appointment, we stopped by Wal-Mart and, of course, Travis galloped through the store. On a side note- we found black felt cowboy hats clearanced for $3. They're real cowboy hats, not the toy kind. So Katherine and Travis are now cowboys or cowgirls (?). Anyway, we got home and Travis had gotten a birthday invitation that he was so excited about. He carried it around, even when Johnny took him to the bathroom. I was busy putting things away when I had a funny idea. I said, "Travis!" (He's finishing up in the bathroom) "While we were gone, you're horse pooped on the floor in my room!" "Can you believe that?!" Johnny started laughing, but Travis just got frustrated with his horse. He walks to our room with a frown on his face saying, "Ughhh!" He reaches down to the floor with his birthday invitation and swept it. Katherine is catching onto all of this and says, with a gasp, "Ohhh! Travis's card has poop on it!" Now Travis is really frustrated and heads back to the bathroom to wash off his card. This whole time Johnny is cracking up! I help Travis wipe his card off with a dry washcloth and just say, "Man! Travis, can you believe that?!" He quickly took his horse outside! Everyday he rides his imaginary horses and takes them "out to pasture" and helps them take naps. Too cute!

Now for Katherine. I was sitting here at the computer typing something and Katherine was on a beanbag next to me. I looked over at her staring at the floor and asked what was wrong. She replied, "I'm just thinking." "About what?" I asked. "My life." "Really, tell me about it." "I'm just thinking about my life and the Spirit." "The Spirit? The Holy Ghost?" "Yeah." "What do you mean?" "I'm just thinking about stuff." She didn't really want to talk about it. So later I told Johnny about it and when he got a chance he asked her about it. He said, "Mommy tells me you were thinking about the Holy Ghost, do you want to tell me about it?" She said, "Yeah, I was thinking about the Holy Ghost and he wants us to be nice to people and love them." We were so proud of her and grateful that she's actually getting it, already! Then, on Saturday, I went for a walk with the kids. Olivia was in the stroller, Katherine was beside me helping me push and Travis was galloping ahead of us on his trusty steed, Bullseye. He was motioning with one hand and holding the reins with the other, saying, "Come on! Follow me!" Katherine quickly replied, "No Travis! We're not going to follow you! We follow Jesus!" He was a little confused and said it again, "Follow me!" She was frustrated and said, "No Travis! We will follow Jesus, not you!" I explained to her that Travis means, Come on, this way! not for us to actually follow him. She said, "Oh." LOLOLOL

Okay, now for Olivia. I fixed her hair in a whale spout two days in a row. When Sunday came, yesterday, I decided to put pigtails on top of her head. That's really the only hair long enough to fix. So, she either had horns or antennas- however you want to look at it. It was cute nonetheless. Yesterday night we were taking pictures of her cute hair. Lately she's been pulling up to things and letting go. So last night she took her first 2 steps!! Very exciting! She is quickly catching up to her very funny siblings!

(Just now, Travis was running through the house with a toy screwdriver, pretending it's a sword, yelling, "It's payback time!" I love to watch him!)

This is the rest of the story... (dated April 30, 2005)

Bullseye rides again...

Travis finished his supper before everyone else tonight. He jumped down from the table and started playing with a magnet on the refrigerator. Katherine wanted to join in on the fun and tried to take the magnet from him.
He ran off teasing, "I've got the magnet! I've got the magnet!" Johnny tried to help the situation by suggesting Katherine find something Travis wants to trade. "Like what?" she asked. Johnny said, "Maybe a Rescue Hero or his toy hatchet he was just playing with." She politely declined.
Just about that time Bullseye wandered into the kitchen, almost unnoticed. He was fully saddled and ready to ride. Since I notice everything, I said, "Hey Katherine, why don't you ride his horse?!" She thought that was a great idea so she jumped on and galloped around the house.
Travis started chasing her, whining, "Give me back my horse!" He noticed how much Katherine's pace had quickened once she mounted his trusty steed; she was going much faster than she ever could have on her own two feet. He didn't give up. He ran after them for a few laps and suddenly remembered what started this whole mess. He was still holding the little orange magnet. There was only one way to settle this... He called out, "Hey Katherine! Want a magnet?" Katherine smiled, taking the magnet and handed Travis the reins.
It was a good trade. The proud little cowboy rode off into the sunset, or, at least west into the living room.

It's fun to reminisce!

Travis is upset

Travis and Katherine just got home from school and I was showing them my post about Olivia. Before I could finish reading it to them Travis blurts out, "Did you put that I asked Olivia to feed my horses some oats and that they were under my bed!?" We laughed our heads off! I continued reading and when Travis heard that the food storage wasn't oats, he said, "WHAT?! She didn't feed them any oats?!"

He's really upset now, he said, "I'm mad now! Now they're going to get sick!"

That's a mad face-not a smile.

Real Oats

While Travis is away at school, he leaves Olivia in charge of his animals. He has a bear, a dog and horses. His imaginary horse, Bullseye, now has a body and is tied up to his bed. Olivia has "pups" and today I asked her if she needed to feed her "pups", just trying to encourage her imagination. I asked her what she was going to feed them and, of course, she said dog food. Then she said she needed to feed Travis's horses. She asked me where the oats were, and I said, "Under Travis's bed." I meant the pretend oats, but no, Olivia's imagination stops there. She wants to feed the pretend horses real oats and proceeds to pull the box of food storage out from under Travis's bed. (Where do you keep your food storage?) I hear her calling, "Mom, I need a little help here!" I check to see what help she could possibly need... What? Are the horses getting out of hand or did one of them bite her? No. She needs help getting the real oats. By-the-way, the box contains rice, pinto beans and powdered milk. No oats. Now what? Johnny and I suggest feeding the pretend horses pretend oats- like from the bucket of blocks or a basket or something. She wouldn't have it. Johnny says, "But Olivia, the horses are pretend, so they should eat pretend oats. We can't give them real oats- it would just make a mess on the floor." She says, "No, I don't want to pretend. We have to get some real oats" and then she lays on her bed sulking.

I love their imaginations!
