The kids have been dying to make robot costumes from huge compost (unused) bags that our landlord got for them. So I cut head and arm holes out and the kids had a great time playing in/with them today, which is perfect because it's raining!
I joked with them that these could be their "Time-Out" bags! LOL
Travis lost his first tooth Saturday night- he's pretty excited.
Johnny and my dad have been working on our new room today. Here they are leveling the floor:
The history behind the room...
Originally this room was not part of the house, nor was it intended to be. The man that lived here before us said it was "slave quarters" that was on the property that he moved and added onto the house. Probably not completely true. This house was built in the 40s, and although that room could have been on the property before this house was built, it probably wasn't slave quarters. The 1 x 4 that Johnny and my dad are setting into the floor is the dividing line of the original existing room and the plywood floor in front and beside it were added when it was brought onto the house, to make it bigger. The floor my dad is on is a tongue and groove wooden plank floor. Johnny and I tore the tongue and groove slat walls off of the studs. We can tell it is really old, but the slat walls had nails with pieces of fabric stuck on it. I'm pretty sure it was wallpapered at some time. When we refinished the kids room, it had slat walls with wallpaper that had the same fabric backing- REALLY OLD. We're going to tile the bathroom and closet and put a floating wood laminate floor down in the bedroom, which will hide any imperfections in the subfloor. I sound really boring, kind of like those Do It Yourself shows. haha That's why it's so funny, cause it is do it yourself! lol Anyway, now they are working on raising the ceiling. I love progress!
Another perfect thing for a rainy day... I went to the dentist. I have to have a root canal, September 9 at 8:30 am in my left canine tooth. Plus I have an abscess, so I'm antibiotics for 5 days. I'm not too worried about getting it done, just not excited about the price, you know? I would have liked to NOT spend the money, because we don't have it to spend... on anything. Oh well.
My niece Kayla left for Utah today and we're so sad because we didn't get to say bye to her. :( She will be living with her BFF though, so we don't worry too much. Have a great time Kayla!!! We love you!
