My family made this Mother's Day really special this year. On Friday, Travis came home with a flower pot that he planted and decorated at school, and Katherine's class made each mom a cookbook with recipes from all of the students, with a card. Johnny gave me a sweet card and the new Jack Johnson cd, Sleep Through the Static- we both like him. My mom gave me a really cute pink/white skirt- ooh, la la! Katherine, Travis and Olivia made flower pots in Primary at church with candy and a poem on it. Katherine opted to give hers to her teacher since I was already getting some from Travis and Olivia- which I thought was sweet of her. Olivia didn't quite get it though- she wanted the candy. I didn't mind. The Branch Presidency (the leaders of our Branch) gave the moms flower pots to plant at home and a card with a heart-shaped cookie cutter on it, with a recipe. Lots of flowers- it was really nice.
I have to admit that I haven't reflected very much on being a mother lately- I have thought about my mother though. I want to express my gratitude for her and to her not just for being my mother, but for being one of my closest friends as well. Her example of love and support does not go unnoticed. I now realize the sacrifices she has had to make for her children, and I also realize that they don't always feel like sacrifices. I appreciate her so much and I love what my sisters have already said on their blogs- so check them out.
Happy Mother's Day!
