My nephew, Nolan, got his mission call on Saturday. His parents were nice enough to call us and have us on speakerphone to listen in! Thanks Melissa and Thomas! It was so exciting to hear him read it. He's going to the Argentina, Buenos Aires South mission. He'll enter the Missionary Training Center (MTC) September 23rd (?) in Provo, Utah and serve for 2 years. He's so excited and we're excited for him.
Since Johnny was off this past weekend, we decided to head down to Vidor to celebrate with everyone. Sunday night we all got together for potluck- mexican themed food (sorry, we don't know any Argentine recipes). I made a guacamole dip and some homemade corn chips (Sneaky Chef)- which were a hit. :) I found another brilliant idea from my blog friend (I wish) Bakerella. What better way to celebrate going to Argentina than with American burgers and fries! It was my first time to make them, so they don't look as good as hers, but who cares! lol
I can't take all the credit. Johnny helped a ton(!) by cutting out and taping the little baskets for them. The sesame seed bun is just a yellow cake mix, the patty is a brownie, the ketchup/mayonnaise/lettuce are icing and the fries are cut sugar cookies. Ahhhh, I love Bakerella! AND I love a good excuse to make something so creative and fun! Thanks family for the great weekend. I can't wait til the 4th to do it again :)
