For Father's Day this year we made donuts! I got a new cookbook recently, called The Sneaky Chef. I've spent more time in the kitchen since I got that book, than probably a whole year prior! lol I've never enjoyed cooking because my kids wouldn't eat what I made, or I wasn't sure how healthy it was. I love this cookbook, because even the desserts are pretty healthy! The donut recipe came from this cookbook and has more of a cake-like texture, but everyone loved them. I made some with powdered sugar on top and some with icing and sprinkles. The icing was horrible because I used some yucky powdered milk- not from the store. It's some that I'd ordered. I made it into chocolate milk once and couldn't even get the missionaries to drink it. It was awful, and unfortunately, the taste was too strong in the icing as well. But they were pretty, so I took a picture:
The talks at church were on fathers, of course. One talk in particular, made me think of my dad and what a good example he set for me. I found those same qualities in Johnny, which is one of the reasons I married him. I'm so grateful that my kids have such a good daddy. Johnny spends good time with each of the kids and shows them how much he loves them. I'm also grateful for Johnny's dad. I see a lot of Johnny in him...great personality and shows so much love and concern for others.
It was a great Father's Day :)
