In the Jasper Branch is a sister who is actually a walking miracle. Her name is Melissa and she has such a strong testimony that God lives. She bore her testimony today in our Fast & Testimony meeting. She is speech impaired- it is difficult to understand her because she cannot use her tongue. She has a little boy and a baby girl, but today she only brought her son. He is about 3, I think. At first, I couldn't really understand anything she said, and I knew my kids were confused. As I strained to listen, somehow my mind filled in all of the consonants and I knew what she was saying. She told us that she had had a surgery recently (maybe on her hand because she was wearing a brace on her wrist) and that she died during the operation. She said she saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. God told her that it was not her time and that he loved her. She said, "God is real." She also said that that is why she hasn't been to church- because she was recovering from the surgery. The Spirit was so strong, it was so uplifting to listen to her and it really put things into perspective for me.
In Primary, Sister Hranicky (our new Primary President) gave the kids a few minutes to bear their testimonies. I was amazed at how many of the kids felt comfortable and confident enough to stand up at the podium in front of their peers and say that they "know this Church is true..." I was especially pleased that each one of my primary-aged kids stood up and bore their testimonies without my prodding or even helping them. Travis, Olivia and Katherine each took turns all by themselves! I love my kids!
wow! what a spiritual day! and I hope my children are able to bear their testimonies alone like that someday :)
