What rhymes with duckling?
This week for Family Home Evening, we had our first fire drill. It did not go well. Sorry I don't have pictures of it- would've been funny! Anyway, we have one window unlocked in the kids room (don't even think about trying to use it!) so Katherine/Travis can push it open and lower the other kids out and jump out. The plan is for Travis to get Ella out of her crib and Katherine will get Olivia out of bed and either Katherine or Travis will open the window and after Ella and Olivia get out, they jump out and they all run across the driveway and meet us at the picnic table. So we did a run through and Travis and Olivia were traumatized. Katherine understood and Ella was too young to notice/care. It was pretty sad, but now they know what to do and we'll have to talk about it more and practice so they won't be so scared. Of course, we told them it probably won't happen and we should pray that it doesn't happen.
Anyway, on to funner things to talk about... Travis frequently sleep walks/talks. It's pretty funny to watch. Last night he got up and staggered around and Johnny asked him what was wrong, he said, "What rhymes with duckling?" Johnny kept a straight face and said, "I don't know Travis... Is that what you're dreaming about?" He nodded and Johnny sent him to use the bathroom and he went back to bed. LOL Another time he did this, Johnny and I were watching a movie and we heard noises like someone was walking or running in the kids room, or playing. It was Travis, he was leaping, literally LEAPING, through the air in the dark laughing hysterically! Johnny opened the door and saw all of this. With the hall light on, Travis's eyes didn't even dilate- he was completely out of it asleep! Here's one more example: Travis was sitting up in bed giggling so hard and playing with nothing visible in his hands. Johnny asked him what was so funny and he got out of bed and ran down the hall where I was in the chair with Bryn. He stood in the doorway and laughed really hard and ran back down the hall. Johnny took him to the bathroom and he sat there laughing and Johnny kept asking him what was so funny. That's when Travis woke up enough and started crying because he was so confused and didn't know why Johnny was bugging him. LOL
Katherine has had some experience with this too. While we were in the hospital with Bryn, the kids stayed with Johnny's parents. During the night- or at least after the kids went to bed, Katherine got up and dragged the kids' blanket through the house and into the kitchen and started petting the food in the refrigerator. Brenda asked her if she was hungry and when Katherine didn't answer, she realized Katherine was asleep. Cute kids!
Today Ella wanted me to paint her nails. I asked her to wait and hold the nail polish, I didn't think she could open it. So I'm finishing my makeup and I smell nail polish- yeah. She had it all over her feet, her hands, some on her clothes and on a pillow and the rug. It took all of the rest of my nail polish remover and it didn't all come up. She cried when she knew she was in trouble and after a few minutes she smiled at me and said, "Hi!" and wiggled her body so cute trying to change the subject. Again, sorry I don't have a picture- didn't realize it was a moment worth capturing.
