As if the time doesn't say it all... I should be doing dishes. I should be finishing up an amazing workout. But here I sit, Monday night 10:16 p.m. CST, mostly because I'm a one-upper ;)
My darling sister, Sarah, has started Motivate Me Monday on her family blog. We have SO much in common these days.
We both recently moved (into amazingly beautiful houses by-the-way) and we both recently (9 mos ago is recent) had babies! Which means we have both fallen into the pit of despair. (any Princess Bride fans out there?)
A few years back, Sarah introduced me to Turbo Jam and I fell in love. Unlike her, I adore working out with weights. For me, the euphoric high I get from working out seems to last longer when I've used weights rather than doing just cardio.
I love the feeling of sore muscles for days after. To me, that means what I'm doing is working! Johnny bought me a road bike and a trainer and I've used it, but I haven't gotten the sore muscles from it like I do when I use a video or iPhone app. (I know I could if I'd up the resistance, but I'm too chicken.)
Like I haven't put enough plugs in for Chalene Johnson ~ but I have to say, I truly LOVE her. She's fun to listen to and easy to follow and, yes, she still reminds me of my sister Melissa! She just gets the job done. I know from experience that if I do her workouts, I'll get the results.
Last week, I was doing great! Worked out most days, ate well, felt great! That is, until Saturday. You see, Saturday was our 12th anniversary!
(Thank you!)
I made the kids brownies- with mint chocolate marshmallows and semi-sweet chocolate chips on top. What was I thinking?! I'm not that strong. Before I knew it, I had eaten at least half of my calorie allotment for the entire day. At least.
*sigh*
Then, that night, we ate at Red Lobster. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered enough food to feed the entire population of Rhode Island. Not kidding. And it wasn't even that impressive. There was lobster on my plate. Honestly, based on that- lobster is totally overrated! And not worth the money.
(I've since spoken with someone who assured me it was not cooked correctly. We'll see. Maybe.)
So of course, we got To-Go boxes and ate the rest on Sunday.
(Did you know you could fry broccoli?! Tasty but SO bad for you.)
Happy Father's Day to us.
My point is, is that once I've "messed up", it's hard to recommit and get back on track. (I don't mean to offend anyone, I don't have a lot of room to complain- my healthy eating/exercise has a lot to do with my mental health and not just losing baby weight- that's for another post.) I'm sure many of you can relate, right?
SO... At the risk of being completely cliché, it IS Monday, and I am newly committed!
(Thanks Sarah for the motivating post on your blog today!)
Today's workout: Turbo Sculpt using my Bowflex dumbbells. Having good equipment is motivating too ;)
Here's one of my favorite episodes of The Office. I often quote it...
Laughed my head off, Jill. Hilarious. I can totally relate--a very motivational post!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is asleep but I'm sooo watching this in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI need to find a non gym way to work out...
Awwww - I loved it! Thanks for joining my cult ;-) haha. K, so I totally agree about TurboJam, still love it too...need to get into the weights though. Also, the Kelly clip from the office is HILARIOUS...I may repost it, it's deserving. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI love you Jill! You are SO funny and no explaining was necessary! ;) I obviously need to watch The Office. Can we just all steal your clip?
ReplyDeleteThanks for motivating me and helping me laugh! I'm on board with you girls. We're all gonna look "amazing"!
Okayfirst things first, what is your mint chocolate chip brownie recipe?!?!? oh my goodness it sounds heavenly!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I read somewhere that if you mess up like accidentally eat more brownies than intended ;) then dono't just give up...I often find myself in that boat! Lol I'll eat too much chocolate at work and then i'm like ehh what's the point now! So not i try to remember what the point is and get back on the right track!
Do you ever eat oatmeal? It has become my very best friend the past few months. I eat oatmeal, honey and TONS of cinnamon for breakfast everyday. I also read honey and cinnamon were good for you...so tried to get rid of the sugar and brown sugar and just use honey. Course i'm sure they meant REAL honey...but hey honey is honey right? haha
I'm glad you're working out hard though! You should posts some of your work out routines....we all could use a little mix up every now and then i'm sure. Love ya!
